Thanksgiving Break! (almost) And NaNoWriMo And New Drawings

FIRST: THANKSGIVING BREAK!
For me (in California), Thanksgiving Break starts the minute I get out of school Friday afternoon. And I won't have to go back until November 28th. YESSSS!
But all my teachers have decided that they're going to give out tests the last two days of this week. NOOOO!
Oh high school, how I love thee...not. At least you're not giving me tests the day after break. That would ruin my entire holiday. So thank you for that.

NEXT: NANOWRIMO.
I am so very behind. :( I'm at 20,013 words, when I should be at 28,339 words to be on track. Guess I have a ton of writing to do over break. *sigh*
Okay, not really very behind. Just behind enough to start mentally freaking out.
And I can never seem to write past the beginning within four chapters. I'm at almost 6 chapters, and I've barely made it past my beginning. *sigh*
...I can do this! I'll just write like my life depends on it tomorrow when I get back from school.
I think for next year, I'm going to have to try to actually make an outline. Or do a revised version of a fairytale, like I was originally planning to do. I have the basic plot lined out for that story anyways. I'll update it come this time next year, and do that instead of trying to go with the flow.
...Or I'll completely ignore everything I just said and do what I just said I wouldn't do. -shot-
At least I know what my personality is like enough to judge how I will actually react. XD
...I was going to say something else, but I forgot. Whoops. Onwards to the next topic!

AND NOW: PICTURES! DOODLES! FASHION DESIGN(-ish)!
All are pictures that I can't seem to upload to dA due to uploading problems via my computer:
Princess-based dresses! (Click on it for a better view)
I started doodling triangles, but eventually got bored and started doodling clothing designs, based on (clockwise from top left) Cinderella's, Ariel's, Mulan's, and Belle's attire in their movies. (Though Mulan's is more from my head than based on the movie.)

My version of Emma Watson's dress that she wore to the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 UK Premiere.
The ruffles were so fun to draw. The torso part of the dress, not so much. But the ruffles are pretty, and that's all that matters. XD
Here's a photo of the actual dress:

Emma Watson is just too pretty. She's stolen all of the acting talent and beauty in this world.
Isn't it pretty? The real life version, I mean. The one I drew just doesn't compare to the real life version of the dress.

I think right now, Drifloon is my favorite of all the Pokemon. For one, they're easy to draw. Two, they are just so cute, and weak, and...<3
My goal is to draw something like this (and by this, I mean "Pokemon-based fashion" for all...*goes to check* 649 Pokemon, including the new Generation V: Unova (Black/White). It's going to take a while, that's for sure.

I title this "Sweet Escape." Cause she lives in a monochrome world (symbolized by how her clothes are all black and gray, and her hair is supposed to be black), but dreams of a world of color (pink peeking out of her sleeve, smiling while letting pink flower petals blow away in the wind, etc).
I originally drew this for a contest on dA, but my dad decided that I spent too much time on deviantArt and blocked it. So I found a way around that. But that method meant I couldn't upload anything. So I found proxies to counter THAT. But then he blocked proxies. So...no uploading to dA for me. *sob*
This is a card I made for my friend Emily. The top half is the front, and the bottom half is the inside.
It includes several references to vlogbrothers (heck, it says it loud and proud on the bottom of the front) and a reference to the Deathly Hallows.
My plan is to make something like this for all of my close friends' birthdays this year. Oh dear...I seem to enjoy setting unattainable goals for myself.
"Rainbows Puked On My Clothes"
This is what happens after I start messing with colors. I was trying to put all the colors of the rainbow on here...I guess I succeeded, but there are way too many dark colors (red, blue, purple) represented compared to light colors (orange, yellow green). Decided to keep my original hair style for this one, because I wanted to draw it with the rainbow clip.
...I have a strange obsession with long off-the-shoulder sleeves.

I've also been drawing on a classmate's binder because she asked me to. I'll take a picture when I'm done doodling on the page. So far, I've doodled on a penguin, two elephants, two dinosaurs, and a mostly finished panda (the sharpie ran out of ink).

That's it for now. Off to studying!
...Or maybe a Youtube video. Distractions are nice.

Already lost her sanity,

PS--Are you planning anything for Thanksgiving?

NaNoWriMo! Is! Almost! Here!

If you remember from a previous post in which I introduced myself, one of the things I love is NaNoWriMo.
Oh November, how I yearn for thee...
In case you've forgotten, NaNoWriMo (which stands for "National Novel Writing Month") is a writing event in November in which people, such as you and me, set a goal: to write 50,000 words by 11:59:59 pm on November 30...without repeating the same word 50,000 times.
My main characters this year are two university childhood friends, both girls. One is a clean freak and extremely OCD, but is otherwise fairly calm. The other is a messy person who leaves things lying around all the time. She is also easily distracted and is possibly slightly ADD. My plot starts with these two girls moving together as roommates for the same university (which I have yet to name), and basically revolves around their strangeness/friendship, etc. I have yet to create a "villain" character, but I'm sure one will appear sooner or later.
I got stuck at 28,000 words last year...I will prevail this year! 50,000 words,  here I come!
I've already gotten two MC's and two supporting characters, as well as several scenes I plan to incorporate into the story.
A friend of mine will give me candy if I include a certain scene and give her a cameo appearance in said scene. I love my friends. :3
Are you going to take on the challenge of 50,000 words? Join us!

Please note that if you choose to pursue this challenge, you should be able to give up your sanity/social life for a month in order to win.

You'll get your life back after the event.
Good morning/night/afternoon, wherever you may be!
Mentally preparing to give up my non-existant social life,

Oh Look, Pictures! but mostly information on my oc's

I hope you guys don't mind if I spam you with drawings.
I've already posted these on my deviantart account...I think.
Oh...I guess I didn't upload this to dA yet. Oops.
An elf girl...sleeping...yeah. This was basically an excuse for me to practice shading. Did I succeed?
My OC's, Nico (left) and Noc (right).
Nico is my persona, and Noc is my Insona (he was born after I learned of frzdragon's Insona concept). Noc is a lich (a zombie who can use magic), and his scarf has taken on a mind of its own. The scarf often likes to create mischief, such as the situation being portrayed in the above picture. :)

Noc reference WIP
I'm still in the process of coloring this. I'll hopefully finish it soon. :'D
Noc is my Insona (as stated before). (To find out more about Insonas, click here.) His tattoo is sideways and over his right eye. His color is purple, and his emotion is extreme narcissism. He tends to fight by ripping off the limbs of his opponents. Some of his magic was shoved into the scarf, and so the scarf ended up having a personality of its own. I suppose due to this separate personality, the scarf never listens to Noc, and thus Noc can never use it in battle, often causing Noc much frustration. No, his hair is not gray. It's supposed to be black. But my color pencil dislikes me and only turns black after I color in really hard. :'D
Lexi (another OC)
Lexi is my dimension-travelling character. Her home is in the world of the Soul Eater manga, but she rarely stays there due to certain incidents, spending more of her time in other worlds. Her main job, other than as a dimension traveler (which is a job passed down through her family), is to find the evil souls that have escaped from the Soul Eater realm.
She's mute (due to certain other incidents), but has developed the ability of telepathy, so she can still communicate when she needs to.
I sometimes fear that she's become a Mary-Sue...oh well.... :'D
RuRu, also an OC.
RuRu is Lexi's traveling companion. He was originally a stuffed bunny from Lexi's childhood. After an encounter that included a witch who was in need of victims volunteers for one of her potions, he came to life via a different potion that had fallen off a shelf.
He fights using carrot-based weapons, such as the carrot gun shown above. It releases beams of carroty goodness out of the tip. :3

And I think that's all I'll spam you guys with today. Have a nice Monday!
Off to school now,
--Connie
PS--these are all my pictures. AKA, no stealing! <3

Saturday Morning Adventures!...

...Oh, the pains of waking up early.
And by early, I'm talking 6:30 am.
Which, if you think about it, isn't too early...though the sun was just barely over the horizon when I left my house.
So yeah, I guess kinda early.
My parents drove. I slept in the backseat (such a peaceful nap I had).
When we arrived at our destination, it was 7:15 am. Earlier than expected.
You're probably wondering, "But Connie, what on Earth did you have to do that early on such a fine Saturday morning?"
The answer, my dear friends, is this:
Oh, the torture.
But at least it was better than I thought it would. Though I ended up having to go to a different school than the one I attend because I signed up two months ago, and the site at my school was already full. :(
I missed out on seeing my best friend too. Sadness. D:
Not knowing anybody was a sort of relief, though. I got to collect my thoughts in peace before the test, and I ended up feeling not as nervous as I had been all of Friday.
This is where I took my test. It's such a pretty campus.
But the bathrooms are too dark. I think that's my one complaint about that school. Oh, and from what I saw as I was walking through the hallway, none of the classrooms have carpets. Huh. Interesting.
I got placed in room 207. (They have hallways for every building! My school doesn't have that. And it looks like YVHS has enough lockers for everyone. Lucky butts.)
My proctor, a sweet looking old lady, started us at approximately 8:30 (we took a while filling in all that information shtuffs), and we had a 5 minute break every two sections until the last four, which we did in quick succession.
Four sections in a row = my brain is fried by the end of the test. I walked out a zombie.
Braaaaaaaaaaaains.
Or, in my case, "Caaaaannnnnnnnndy."
Overall, I think I did pretty well. I may or may not have made a few silly errors, and my essay wasn't all that great, but I don't think I did too badly. Hopefully.
Now excuse me as I go refry my brain with school homework.
Ready to pass out,
--Connie
PS--hey look! None of these pictures are mine for once. Surprising. I will fix that with the next post.

Pigskin

Some of you lovely folks may be wondering, "Connie, what in the world are you talking about?" Let me explain.
According to what I remember, the old footballs (the one you throw around, not the one you kick) were made of a skin from a pig--hence, the "pigskin" part.

Oh look! A picture of a football! (this isn't my pic, btw)
There is an event at our school, near the beginning of the school year, in which all the clubs and sports teams and classes (freshmen/soph/jr/sr etc) can set up booths and sell stuff (like cookies and lanyards and t-shirts and COTTON CANDY, etc) as a fundraiser in a bazaar-esque setting.
"But Connie," you may be asking. "What does any of this have to do with the story you mentioned a few lines ago?" Ah, yes. That lovely story from a few lines back. Well, you see, there is a football game going on at the same time as the bazaar. Put 2 and 2 together, and you have the Pigskin event, simultaneously referring to the actual game and the bazaar at the same time.
But mostly to the latter. The game pretty much a bonus.
Confusing? Hope not. I'd hate to have to retype that entire thing all over again.
My school had our pigskin last Friday (September 16). I volunteered to help out for my school's Art Club (proud member since 'o9...booyah), and thus spent a whopping 11 hours at school yesterday.
Why 11? I ended up staying after school to help set up (the event started at 5 pm).
Anyways, back to my story. The Art Club was offering caricatures and cotton candy at the Pigskin (why yes, I did eat a lot of cc. How did you know?) and I volunteered to draw caricatures. We were allowed to draw in whatever style we wanted, and we were only required to bring in one example artwork:
My friend/model is a big fan of Harry Potter, hence the wand and seafoam green magic thing.
And that's what my Friday was like. I'm now dead tired because I also had to get up early today (on a Saturday, too!) for a SAT prep class (October test! So nervous/ready to get this over with!). I got home about three hours ago, and am ready to collapse. Decided to type this up before I completely zonked out.
So how was everyone else's day?

Wishing she had a robot to do her homework for her,
--Connie

PS--What do you think of this layout? Do you prefer having pictures between chunks of words, or having them all mashed up into one pile like the previous posts?

09 September 2011

Oh, Oh, Oh! I Should Probably Say Hello!

I probably really should do that...my first two posts weren't very introduction-y, haha.
Hello! I'm Connie! There's no real use hiding my name, seeing as it's on my dA account (as previously noted). I am 16 (going on 17, baby, it's time to think~...*cough*) and am currently living the absolutely joyful junior year high school life. *coughsarcasmcough*
Which means I'm pretty much going to be like this:
the rest of the year. Huzzah!
...Is the font I'm using too small? Please say so if it is. I'll make it bigger. I just like smaller font. And small things in general.
As you can probably tell, I love drawing. And taking pictures. Between drawing and photography, my love is split 70-30, respectively. I just love drawing so much~! <3
I also fairly fond of plushies/stuffed animals in general. I have a fairly small collection, so I hope to expand my collection a bit more this year. :D

Um...some more things I love:
Harry Potter. How can you not love the books?
Just the books, though. Haven't seen the movie.

A writing event.

deviantArt is my life.

I sleep way too much. XD

Pfft, I do this too often as well.
I love balloons. I love this picture. :)

Um, yeah. I think that's enough about me for now.
See you next post! :)
--Connie, Stealer of Souls

And yes, I did reuse my sleeping picture. I was too lazy to draw another one. :D

06 September 2011

Hello Second Post! So Nice To See You

...I know I said I was going to write more about myself today. But I got sidetracked by deviantArt and homework. I apologize, and will do it as soon as possible.
Seeing as I'm running on 4 hours of sleep, I could probably do with a little nap right now. And I'm not exactly sane at the moment.
...Why can't homework do itself? Friggin' homework. Especially essay outlines. I don't want to do homework right now. I want to SLEEP. Sleep is almost like a luxury or something.
But I can't sleep right now. Cause I have a APUSH test tomorrow, and I don't want to screw up my first test of the year for that class. So I need to finish studying for that too.
...Or I could ignore my study-feelings and sleep after I finish doing this.
I should probably stop getting distracted during the day, and do all my fooling around at night.
...That sounded awkward. IGNORE ME.
Would love to catch some Z's...
About to fall asleep on my English textbook,
--Connie
